Secondly it contradicts Pauls teaching in 1Cor 12..

29 All are not apostles, are they? All are not prophets, are they? All are not teachers, are they? All are not workers of 1miracles, are they? 30 All do not have gifts of healings, do they? All do not speak with tongues, do they? All do not interpret, do they?

So your assertion that all believers speak in languages is incorrect.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07795053064156450118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-570416556573487861.post-68107320841047124312012-08-05T07:54:57.633+01:002012-08-05T07:54:57.633+01:00The NT books were written before the cessation of ...The NT books were written before the cessation of the gift of languages. So to say give me a scripture to say that they had finished would be impossible. However Paul did say that the gift of languages would cease as they did after the days of the Apostles. So to say that the last word is do not Forbid the use of languages is of course contextual because the apostolic age had not ceased while Paul was alive. You are right in that the gift of languages was for personal edification in other words it was a real language understood by the speaker. However that is a mute point as the point regarding church edification. Nobody is ever edified by a speaker speaking gibberish. However the true purpose of the gift of languages is to be a sign to unbelievers and specifically Jews. This was a sign from heaven directed at Jewish unbelievers. Once the Jewish nation was destroyed and scattered in AD70 the gift was withdrawn by the Holy Spirit. Israel is today LoAmmi so the gifts for the Jews are in abeyance today. This gift was much inferior to prophecy says Paul and is only mentioned three times in Acts and in the whole of the rest of the NT not mentioned except where Paul has to correct the Immature Church in Corinth regarding their incorrect use of this gift for childish motives.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07795053064156450118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-570416556573487861.post-14406867389444316632012-07-29T19:48:51.264+01:002012-07-29T19:48:51.264+01:00God bless you.
