Thessalonians 3
1:
Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have
free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: 2: And that we
may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have
not faith. 3: But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and
keep you from evil. 4: And we have confidence in the Lord touching
you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you. 5:
And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the
patient waiting for Christ.
Paul
is bringing his letter to an end. This part might have been written
in Pauls own handwriting. He says pray for us… And then he lists
two points for prayer. 1. That the preaching of the message of the
Gospel will have swift progress in the world and that it might be
acknowledged in its true power and glory as it is in you. 2. That we
(Paul, Silas and Timothy and their fellow-workers) might be saved
from the clutches of men who are out of their minds and evil in what
they do, because not everyone is a believer. Then Paul says the Lord
is faithful and he will establish you in the faith and keep you from
the evil one. And we are confident in the Lord regarding you that you
will do and want to do - the things which we instructed you. May the
Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of
Christ.
